This is the second Brother sewing machine I have had. The first one was a cs8072 model that cost under $200.00 and worked like a dream for many years. I used it pedal to the metal every day and it finally wore out. I plan to take it in for service to see if it can be saved…but in the meantime, I ordered the cs6000i and it arrived in less than a week. It is very much like my last one but came with a quilting foot,a walking foot and a large platform! Great in all aspects. I also love the needle threader and free arm for small areas. For the money these little computerized Brothers far exceed my expectations! I suggest if you do have any problems, please read your owners manual, and use good needles and good quality thread.

I have been sewing for 30 years and have several other machines including a high-end Bernina and Babylock serger. I bought this machine, based on other reviews and because I wanted a machine I could take with me to our second home. This is a great machine, the tension is consistent and while it is light-weight, it is more than adequate quality for the ‘average’ sewer. I only use Gutterman thread and always change the needles on all of my machines with each project–this helps with all machines I think. The decorative stiches are nice, but the real value is a good consistent straight stitch with reliable tension. For less than $100 I cannot believe how nice this machine is!

Wow!! I’m surprised by how well it works!! I myself was a little afraid because of all the negative reviews I read at first, but I needed an easy mini sewing machine for sewing costumes or fixing clothing and I decided to take a leap of faith and I’m glad I did!! This machine is amazing~! So happy I got it, it’s easy to use and learned to sew with it in 30 minutes. I was so happy haha, I really recommend this just have a little patience for it if it seems frustrating :) I assure you it’ll pay off!

Also this works really well with most fabric, however it can’t do heavy duty so if the fabric is too thick (depending on fabric) it won’t sew well and will get tangled.

I am so glad I bought this machine! I didn’t need a zillion different stitches – I needed a reliable, easy to use machine for hemming (including denim), mending, and simple projects. This machine does a great job on all of that and could easily be used for more complicated projects. It is such a wonderful little machine – it makes me want to sew more! I haven’t sewed in ages and I made my first pillow cover in almost 25 years within an hour or so of taking it out of the box! I was also considering the Singer Inspiration 4205 which is about $50 more and has only 5 stitches but I’m very happy I went with the Brother.

I am thrilled with my new machine! It came as expected and in good shape. I am just getting back into sewing and will need to re-educate myself, but this machine has so many possibilities! The collection of stitches is exciting–lots more than any other machine in this range. It seems sturdy and well made; even from coming off of an ancient singer I’ve used over the years. The included attachments and automatic functions make it a total thrill to use. I think I will be doing a lot more sewing…I am very pleased with this choice.

I bought this sewing because of all the stitch patterns and simplicity to use. It’s really a no brainer, as it’s self explanatory in how to set the stitch length and width and even tells you what foot to use with each stitch. My only hang up is where the reverse button is, right in front below the Brother decal. I’m used to using a machine that had the reverse on the right side of the machine. Other than that I love it for it’s ease of use.

We were looking for a decent sewing machine for sewing quilts and our current machine just couldn’t handle the multiple thicknesses. We got this to handle the thick stuff based upon multiple reviews citing its ability to handle layers of fabric without complaint. For a very reasonable price, this machine is outstanding at sewing layers of fabric. It isn’t real fancy, but it gets the job done easily and without issue. We highly recommend this machine for its price!

I’ve owned several sewing machines over the years, including a Viking machine which my daughter “borrowed.” I bought this machine to have one light enough for traveling, but with a good variety of stitches. I’ve used it most recently making a handbag out of heavy duty denin and was pleasantly surprised how well it handled even several thicknesses of denin or strapping. If I have any negative, it is that the machine is too light. If it’s not placed on a sturdy table or cabinet, it tends to bounce. My daughter and I were sewing together on a folding table, but when she removed the much heavier Viking, the Brother bounced. I finally had to put the Viking back on the table just to hold it down.

I looked at many machines, did a ton of research before making a decision. I knew this sewing machine purchase was going to have to last me for awhile. I read all the reviews, this one got WAY more praise than any of the others. (That’s important to me!) It took a week or so to arrive, which isn’t really bad, but the slowest I’ve experienced from Amazon. (This is NOT a negative). The machine came with the hard cover and that’s not in the description, nice surprise! After sewing on this for two weeks I can say I am totally happy with it! It’s met every challenge I’ve put at it, from sewing simple quilt tops to free motion quilting to putting on cumbersome quilt binding. Any problem I’ve had has been easily remedied. The only challenge I’ve had is the automatic threading feature, and I am convinced it’s “operator error”. This machine will do whatever you ask of it, as long as you ask correctly! The ONLY think I would have liked was an instructional DVD, which it doesn’t come with. The book is easy to understand though. Lots and lots of extra pressure feet! For the price….take the leap and get this machine. Well worth the money, exceeds my expectations and fun to play with!

This is a great lil machine wasn’t sure at first cause I had never used anything more than a singer but for a small machine this is worth the money. Great for beginners or advanced sewers and its very light weight and easy to take anywhere with you. It also works with batteries as well so that makes it alot easier to travel with. It has as much power as some bigger machines and does great stitch work as well. The only downfall is it won’t do anything like real thick materials due to not fitting under the arm it doesn’t go up real high other than that this is a great little machine.
